About Darby Sawchuk
Hi, my name is Darby and I'm a travel photographer and image retoucher from Calgary, Canada, but I currently call Manchester, UK my home. Thanks for visiting my site and exploring my images. I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to see some of my work.
I've been actively taking pictures for decades and I've been privileged enough to visit almost 60 countries and photograph most of them at least in some small way. I started to write about some of my favourite experiences, but it was getting long in a hurry and it started to feel like I was bragging. Suffice it to say, I've been lucky to meet some unforgettable people, enjoy incredible places, and have unforgettable adventures and my photos let me look back on them fondly and share them with others.
My passion for travel photography developed while travelling Europe then reached a fever pitch while exploring South America. While in Peru, I was able to learn from a more experienced photographer and I was completely hooked. Upon returning home, I dove into learning as much of the craft as I could then prepared for my next trip. I landed a job teaching English in Japan where I could experience a new culture while further developing my skill as a photographer in a foreign land.
Since then, my work has appeared in such publications as: National Geographic, Men’s Journal, New York Magazine, Globetrotters Guides, Footprint Guides, Western Living Magazine, The Telegraph, Forbes Traveler, Countryfile Magazine, Country Explorers and more
Travel photography is my true love, but I also have a background in commercial studio photography and image retouching. I have shot for such clients as: John Lewis, Tesco, Littlewoods, Joules, Argos, JD Williams, New Look, Matalan, Dunelm, Asics, Cotton Traders, Lakeland, Pets at Home, Homebase, and more.
Again, thank you so much for visiting and if you'd like to get in touch, please contact me here.
